Millcreek!

Odd day! We took the pooches up Millcreek, this time we did the Mount Aire trail. It was way up the canyon and was full of wildflowers. Probably my favorite hike so far.
While I hate seeing people on the freeway with their dogs in the back of trucks (I always worry about what happens when they get in an accident) we let the dogs in back for the 3 minute drive to the canyon. They love it back there! I wish it were safer for them.
The sky was picture perfect blue, and the weather was 82 deg.
This is a very shady trail, that follows water most the way up, so it's perfect for the dogs.
It is a much steeper climb then the other hikes we have been on recently.
My favorite thing about hiking is being outside with the dogs, and you don't have to deal with people who aren't 'dog people' everyone you pass either just smiles and walks past, or stops to pet your dogs. You don't have to worry about if the person coming along is going to freak out because your dog is walking with you. Everyone is just doing there own thing enjoying nature.
This leaf got me SOO excited for fall! Fall is my FAVORITE season!!!
Then we got home and again, the dogs crashed! I love our family, and it just wouldn't be complete with out the dogs!

Happy 60th Birthday Candyland!

I love searching for events going on around us! However searching the other day left me wishing I was in San Francisco, more specifically Lombard Street.
I have only driven down Lombard Street once, and it was beautiful, and a creative way to work with fault lines. Well some creative genius came up with an excellent way to celebrate Candylands birthday. They turned Lombard Street into Candyland.
How incredible would this have been to see.
They did it all for a children's hospital. Where kids drew from life size color cards and played in teams of five.
They included all the cute details from the game.
And were greeted along the way by characters from the game. So fun! Wish I was there!

It's Gotta Be the Puppy Chow!

We have had a dead tree in our yard that we haven't gotten around to tearing out.
Well the dogs were a little more ambitious... They decided the dead tree was too much of an eye sore.
We believe the actual motivation for ripping down a tree was actually due to the fact that Cleo was teething!
Sure enough Cleo's two loose teeth were gone!
And we know have an unobstructed view of our neighbors car! Awesome!

One year...

It was a year ago today I lost my Grandpa. Today I am with my Granny cleaning her house and getting her groceries. It seems like yesterday I was here looking at a body of a man who I didn't recognize as my Grandpa. He had gotten so sick, lost so much weight and was so weak he wasn't himself. It really hit home that a person isn't the body.
My Grandpa wasn't the man who the funeral home workers came to pick up and take him out of his home in a zipped up bag. He was the man that used to take me to toys r us every Monday to pick out a toy. He was the man that introduced me to Oreo's. He was the man that showed me the joys of traveling, starting with road trips to California (Disneyland), then starting in 2nd grade taking Meghan and I out of school for 2 weeks to go to Florida! He was the man who would spend New Years Eve playing Sorry for hours no matter how many times Meghan or I would cry because we lost.
He was the man who would hold a hand up to my head and the measure it on his body to show how much I grew. Even though I was 20 and hadn't grown since 6th grade. He was the man who made his own birthday cards for us on the 'confuser'. The man who took us swimming for hours at the 3 Fountains pool, video tape us swimming take us on whale rides, then take us home to watch the video. The list goes on and on, so today I will remember my Grandpa as the wonderful spirit he is! And be happy that he isn't inthe body that was sick and didn't work the way he wanted it to. I love you Grandpa and miss you more than anyone will ever know!

Late Night!

Drew and I were super ambitious the other night and set out alarms for 1:30 a.m. to go watch the perseid meteor shower!
There is an awesome iPhone app called Star Walk.
You can (with a 3gs) point your phone directly at the sky, and the app labels everything that you are looking at.
And shows a picture of the constellation you are looking at.
And if you want to know more about what you are looking at, you can select an image and it will zoom in and give you the details. So we drove up emigration canyon and whipped out the iPhone for a very informative meteor shower.
Needless to say we were exhausted the next morning. That is why I love Drew, he's always up for an adventure!

Sad News...

The mother of Caesar's puppies passed away this morning. While Zoey is not 'our' dog she has been a huge part of our lives these past few months.
She was such a good mom, and it is sad to know that the puppies are without her. Our hearts go out to Brigg and Robin, Zoeys owners. We know they are heartbroken!

Canyoneers!

No just kidding but we had a fun filled day of canyons. The pooches and I started the day off with a hike up Millcreek Canyon on the Pipeline trail.
Odd days are dog days up Millcreek, so dogs can be off leash.
My little travel buddy Cleo!
The dogs were exhausted!
Then when Drew got home we were off to Silver Lake.

It was so beautiful. I haven't been up to Silver Lake since I was a little girl. And it was as amazing as I remember.
The scenery was breath taking, it was so fun to watch the fish jump out of the water.
Even better to be with Drew.

Mickey Mouse Mountain.... Could it get any better?!
