Their Engaged!!!!

Nick proposed to his cute Katie today.

Katie's a 3rd grade teacher, and the kids are absolutely in love with her. Nick took her up to the front of the room. Asked her to marry him and she shouted "Of course!". Then the little boy in the front screamed "I've been waiting my whole life for this!". Katie said "I'm the luckiest girl in the whole world." and the same little boy stood up and yelled "Yes you are!!!" he loved it so much!
Then Katie came out of the room like a whirling dervish! Couldn't keep her still!
I couldn't be happier to have Katie as a sister!!! She is the greatest! We love you so much!
Think Nick's relieved she said yes? Way to go Nick! You did real good!

Dog Beds

Have you looked at dog beds lately? More specifically dog beds that will fit 2 ponies? Well I have. And they are EXPENSIVE! So I found some pool chair lounger pads (do you follow?) Now all I needed was a cover, seeing as how my dogs spend most of their days trying to figure out how to carry in as much dirt into the house as possible. So I spent a lot of time cruising around fabric stores and contemplating the meaning of a 'yard'. Anyway.... Turns out fabrics way expensive. Sooo... After I bought a new duvet cover for our bed I decided to use our old one for slipcovers for the dog beds.
I bought new pins that were super pretty! Pretty things always make projects more enjoyable. So I dusted off the sewing machine my granny gave me. Took a quick look at a YouTube video on how thread my sewing machine and I was off!
And they fit perfectly! With just a tiny bit of fabric left over!
So after all of my hard work to show appreciation to me the dogs stepped over the beds, and crammed themselves into Cleo's kennel.
Seriously?! Oh well! How cute are they? The Loooove each other!

The Bed!

Well I have been on the hunt for the perfect baskets to go in my new bed. And then I stumbled upon these boxes at Ikea.
Two boxes for $11. It's like they were made just for my bed! Law of Attraction strikes again!
Perfect!

White on White

Our washer and dryer are a mismatched set. One white and one yellow. Although they work wonderfully.... I hated them. I'm naturally a very symmetrical person. I like balance and uniform. And come on... Who wouldn't be a little thrown off by a yellow dryer and a white washer?
Blah! So one day I cracked. I ran to my local Super Market (Smith's, sometimes I feel as if I have seen way too much of the good people at Home Depot, so I mix it up!) and bought appliance spray paint. And although I am pretty sure I should have opened a window or worn a mask. I LOVE how it turned out.
It actually took me two cans to get it all covered. Looking back I would have researched a primer to block the yellow color first.
The can that saved my sanity!

PS Our bed was put up on Knockoffwood.blogspot.com, and now I REALLY wish I would have steamed the sheets! agh!

Projects, Projects, Projects

I've said it all before. I'll just have to say it again, My Husband Is AMAZING!!! And it all started with me wanting a new bed/the basement flooding! As you can see in the pictures below our house needed updating. Every wall was white with carpet that needed to be replaced, I'd say 9 years ago.
Then the basement flooded so Drew had to replace an entire wall. Well while we were at it we decided to get some pretty blue wall paint to freshen up the wall a bit.
Then one Drew decided to build my bed for me, and while at Home Depot we found a steal of a deal on laminate flooring. On sale from $2.59 a square foot to $0.41 a square foot!! Unreal! So we bought up 3 stores worth of flooring, and spur of the moment ripped up the carpet and didn't look back.
Then my little Drew bear got to work...
And he worked...
And he worked...
And he worked! All after coming home from his full time job. And he worked hard because he had to stop working every night at 9 for the upstairs tenants. And in a week and a half (including the 3 days he had to take off because of the swine flu) our home became a masterpiece!
To add accent to the new flooring, Drew put in wainscot! And it is beautiful!
Then he finished painting all of the rooms. I will take credit for the paint colors! I love how soothing, bright, and fresh they all are.
How amazing do those floors look? Oh and he installed all new baseboard!
And the finished product. Sorry these pictures are so grainy they are from my phone and when the light is dull it doesn't have the best resolution.
Cleo's new room.
AND... he framed out all the windows... Here is the before.
And the after. Sorry the windows are so dirty... But yeah right its winter, I'm not about to go outside and scrub them!
Then he replace all the nasty 'school hallway' lights with lights we found at Costco for $15 dollars! Get real! AMAZING!! He just barely put these in and hasn't fixed the ceiling, but whoa ease up on him! He's only human! He'll get to it!
And now my favorite part. Our bedroom, now with brand new bed!! I am embarrassed to say that this nasty curtain has been in our room for a year and a half! Hated it! But never did anything about it!
Until now!
Look at all those pillows! I never thought I would find someone that loves pillows as much as I do until I met Drew! Made for each other!!
My new rug, that was 25% off at Cost Plus World Market!
I love it, couldn't be happier!
A painting from my mom! Thanks mom! I'm so happy you "gave" this to me! ha! (I use the term 'I borrowed this from her' loosely.)
New duvet cover ($30), 800 thread count sheets that feel like silk ($26) (all from Overstock.com) and blanket originally $110 from target on sale for $43! Talk to me about the Law of Attraction! I believe!! My husband is amazing! I love finding screaming deals! I have never been happier! And I need an excuse to use more exclamation points!!!!! I don't think I plugged enough into this post!!!!!

Look What My Drew Can Do!

Well the moment you have so anxiously been awaiting! This project took a little bit longer to complete because mid build we started 5.... Yes 5 other projects (yes this is the reason you have not heard from us)! Anyway... I have always wanted this bed from Pottery Barn. However for a king size version it is almost $2000! Yikes.
The Stratton Bed from Pottery Barn. Then I found this website. Knockoffwood.blogspot.com. And she has all the measurments and steps laid out how to make knock of versions of popular furniture!
So little Drewpal got to work!
And the finished project! The best part is that the bed is basically just 3 bookshelves. So if you don't want it as a bed any more you can stack them or use them side by side.
The bed turned out amazing! Thanks so much Drew!!
And p.s. sorry if you're like me and all you can see in the picture above is a wrinkled sheet. I know! Makes me cringe too. Not enough to actually steam it. ( I wanted to but Drew said no.)
p.s.s. more on the other 5 projects to come! It's going to blow your mind!
