Plumbers...

If you haven't noticed neighbor Dave is going to be a blog regular. We are working out the contract agreement as we speak. There may or may not be a signing bonus. We'll see what our lawyers say.

Friday and Saturday were demolition derby days in our home. I can safely say my lungs will always have a good sturdy coat of cement dust in them. If I die mysteriously, tell the doctors to check my lungs. (Little dramatic!)

Our bathroom looked like a spelunking adventure. Truly it smelled just like Timpanogas Cave and Nutty Putty Cave all mixed into one. Lovely, (not dramatic at all!)

The hammered and dug, and dug and hammered. And only managed to make one neighbor upset! (I don't see what the big deal is about sawing into concrete at 7 AM on a Saturday! Haha.)

I got a few good wacks into the concrete. I can now claim to have remodeled our bathroom. I'll probably try to take most of the credit!

Drew thought since he was trying out plumbing, he should really get into the zone! Really try and embrace all that a plumber is.

However this is a family friendly site so we censor for everyones benefit! (Drew, don't you wish you new how to use our blog now? Muah ah ah!)

And here we are now! Concrete poured over the new plumbing, just waiting to set up and get the toilet and tub all ready to go! Then goes the tile!

Kitchen is Almost a Kitchen

Our little galley kitchen is slowly but surely becoming a functional room. Because we are just living in the basement and renting out the upstairs, our kitchen also has to function as our laundry room.

Before, we bought a mini stove, a 10 cu/ft fridge, downsized from a 17cu/ft. We were given a smaller/newer washer and dryer. (goodbye tear to my yellow painted white dryer). And voilĂ !

Space! The before and after were taken from the exact same place!

Look how much pretty linoleum can be seen now! Hopefully will be replaced soon! We can actually fit a table in our kitchen! Hooray!

Tile...

Ksl has come through again in a big way! We just bought these sweet custom ordered tile, for mere pennies.

These will be on our bathroom floor. Now the only tricky part is finding the perfect grout color. I want white, but I know it will be tough upkeep. A light gray may be nicer but not pop with the tile as much. Or a light cream, but I worry with these off shades of white it will just always look dingy.

Speaking of bathrooms.... Here is what our looks like...

It's hard to explain what we did here, but basically we are moving closets around. We took the closet in the second bedroom to make the bathroom bigger. The bathroom was tiny. When using the toilet your knees were underneath the sink. And the door opened right into the kitchen. Nobody wants that. So we are walling off the door opening in the kitchen and putting the door in the hallway. We are walling off the second bedrooms closet because that's now the bathroom as I said earlier. We will take the closet in our bedroom and open it up in the second bedroom. We will wall off the opening to the closet in our bedroom.

This is from the second bedroom looking in to the bathroom. The wall for the bathroom ended right where the tub was. We added so much space just by rearranging closet walls.

Oh.... And there's our tile one more time!

Little Bitty Baby!

Not much in our lives is little... Here's just a quick reminder of the beasts that we call dogs...

And she's the small one... But we just introduced the smallest, sweetest thing, you have ever seen into our home.

Yup, that's our new baby oven. No we will not be putting babies in the oven, it's just a little baby appliance compared to the iron lungs we had before! Now to learn how to use it!

Birthday Festivities!

We... Well I like to celebrate birthdays everyday of the month up until the actual day. Drew isn't so much in love with planning that many activities, so I took the reins this year. Drew promised any activity I asked for we could do. And Drewpy being the guy he is has pulled off some fun car ride adventures.

My activities have been craft oriented. I have... Apparently... The bottomless silver spray paint can, so anything that stands still long enough here gets a quick coat. Here is my redd chalk board, redone.

My gold mirror is now silver. I have wanted to hang stuff on the walls, I have just not had the vision for what I want. Hopefully it all comes together.

So I had an idea for some cheap artwork. I love this photo, and I was playing around with an iPhone app called sketch me. And created this...

Well I decided for one birthday request I would make Drew drive me all over town to pick up a cheap canvas, paints and brushes. We came home and hooked up my phone to our projector, and I did a quick sketch of the outlines.

And here is my 18X24 art to hang on my wall! I love it! I won't point out all of my major flaws. We'll just consider them artistic inspiration! Haha it was a super fun project to work on with Drewpy! Happy birth month to me!!!

Drew and Dave Do Tile

So there we were... Wondering what we should do for our Saturday. We decided to go to the dump, neighbor Dave had never been to the dump. And oh do I wish I would have taken pictures of his excitement. Kid at a candy shop kind of love. We even let him throw in the glass light bulb. Everyone knows throwing glass into the dump is the best part. Seriously, Dave could have watched the dump tractor for the rest of the day! Too funny. So on our way home we stopped at Lowe's too look at some vanities. And of course one thing leads to another, and Dave and Drew have started another project.

Why not retile a bathroom today? I can't think of a reason not to!

Yes when they work, they always stand this close!

Look how awesome! I love this tile. And this is pre-grout! It will look so beautiful!

So awesome! How productive was your Saturday?

Another One Bites the Dust!

We lost another wall today!

It was quite the surprise to come home to! Even more amazing was how well all of the debri was cleaned up! A Christmas Miracle!

We went from two walls to no walls! Drew wants to keep it open, besides putting a wall on the living room side under the stairs. Me.... Not loving the idea if staring into my laundry room. Yes... Eventually it will be a beautiful laundry room... But still... I like a little separation! As can be seen, I finally was motivated to prime the cabinets!!! Huge step for me, by no means comparable to knocking a wall down... Baby steps! Right now I'm hooked on marmoleum! I think I have finally hooked Drew. I think striped, zig zagged, or checked floor would be SO fun for a laundry room.

Yup! Love it! I also have some stairs I love! What our stairs will soon look like!

Love the blue of these walls.

The paneling on the right side of the stairs is what I want.

And if we decide to put that wall back up... Which again, I really want to. We'll continue the wainscot from the hallway all the way up.

I want to do coffered ceilings like this in our living room, with a light light light blue inside the panels. Might sound crazy, but I LOVE IT! Now if I could just kick this sore throat and sleep. I'd about have it all!
