Look What My Drew Can Do!

Well the moment you have so anxiously been awaiting! This project took a little bit longer to complete because mid build we started 5.... Yes 5 other projects (yes this is the reason you have not heard from us)! Anyway... I have always wanted this bed from Pottery Barn. However for a king size version it is almost $2000! Yikes.
The Stratton Bed from Pottery Barn. Then I found this website. Knockoffwood.blogspot.com. And she has all the measurments and steps laid out how to make knock of versions of popular furniture!
So little Drewpal got to work!
And the finished project! The best part is that the bed is basically just 3 bookshelves. So if you don't want it as a bed any more you can stack them or use them side by side.
The bed turned out amazing! Thanks so much Drew!!
And p.s. sorry if you're like me and all you can see in the picture above is a wrinkled sheet. I know! Makes me cringe too. Not enough to actually steam it. ( I wanted to but Drew said no.)
p.s.s. more on the other 5 projects to come! It's going to blow your mind!

  1. Wow, that is awesome. Way to go Ange. I love it! Our sheets are wrinkled too, what do people with perfect sheets do at night? Unrealistic. :)

  6. I love the bed, great job! Can I ask how you finished your edges? I'm so confused on that point if I'm going to paint the wood. Did you use edge banding or just paint?

  7. I am new to this whole do it yourself thing and am in need of a new bed frame. I really like yours and was wondering what you did to cover the whole at the top....If you left it how it is the mattress would soon sink down into it. Please let me know...Thanks so much!!!

  9. Ashley, we just used wood putty, then sanded and painted it.

Jenn, On the plans for the bed Ana has the process to make a frame for the middle section then we just laid a piece of plywood over that, and voila a bed!

  10. Hollingsworth Family, I think materials roughly came out to around $250-275 and then about 5 hours time!

  12. That's great! Just one question - does the matress sink at all in the middle? I would think that it needs slats in the middle.

  13. Good luck Melissa! We have loved the bed so far! And Romaida, there are slats and ply wood that go in the middle to keep the mattress from sinking. I just didn't post a picture of it! Thanks for the comments!!
