Midway, Fabulous as Always!

After work on Friday we headed to Midway to stay at the Homestead Resort. This is one of our all time favorite places. If you go on their website the have a section where they offer specials. We got the bed an breakfast where you get a night and free breakfast. And this is not a continental breakfast, it's superb.
Fanny's Grill never disappoints! They have the best wheat banana granola pancakes Ever!!! Well Drew wanted to make today special so he started us off with a cinnamon roll!
And it was ENORMOUS!! No joke the size of a pizza!! We barely made a dent in it.
After that... I headed out on the cross-country course. This was the best skiing I have done yet. The trail was so well groomed, and managed it spoiled me. I think I am really getting the technique now. I even passed people up on the trail! And the most impressive part is I didn't fall!!! AhhhMazing! I even got into a tuck position on the hills!
How cute are my skis? Can you see the tracks you follow? I passed a couple that I could tell it was their first time and they were going on the skate section of the track. Instead of the classic. I thought about telling them, but maybe they knew more then me.
They fresh groomed tracks. With prestine snow. Bonneville has turned icy because of the lack of snow. Up there it was perfect.
And does this scenery not blow your mind?
All along the course you are following deer tracks. I love the outdoors. And now enjoy winter SO much more.
Look at that!! Well my time improved by 5 minutes a mile. I could be a lot faster if I didn't stop so often to take pictures. Oh well, I love everything about it.
My trail, time and calories. Worked off maybe a third of the cinnamon roll.
While I was skiing Drew was in the lodge reading/studying his book the E-myth. He's obsessed!
Then we played a game of pool and Drew beat me. We will probably never play pool again. Ha ha!
Then we headed over to Zermatt Resort to look at the Ice Castles. Crazy cool!
It was terrific anniversary celebration! Happy 2 years to us!!!!!

Girls Day Out

So I am obsessed with skiing at Bonneville now, super convenient and the fact that you can take dogs off leash there is a huge plus. So I raced home from work today because I had a break before going back tonight. When I realized all of my ski clothes were still in the washer. I threw some stuff in the dryer for 5 minutes. I couldn't wait any longer, I pulled out all my wet clothes and threw them on. My body heat would dry it, right? I took Cleo with me this time. Cleo off leash is just much more obedient. She just came that way.
So I started my RunKeeper app, this time figured out how to have it alert me every mile I skied. It's so neat to know how far you have gone, and how long you have been going without missing a beat. Literally, the app voice just tells you right over your music.
Cleo was so fun to ski with, until she spotted some deer droppings on the track and didn't get out of the way in time.
She had the time of her life, and it blows my mind how fast she is. Caesar was just gangly up until about a month ago.
The scenery as always was beautiful. So we had a great day skiing, and bonding as girls. When we got home Caesar had left a very clear message that he did not appreciate being left at home.
I will admit this was my fault. I had filled up our Costco boxes with our trash and left it at the foot of the stairs to take it out later. I forgot and left it there. Caesar some how managed to get out of his kennel and had his way with the trash.
To make sure that he is never left out again.
Ughhh.... Exhausting!
I came home and Caesar had guilt written all over him. Usually he begs for attention when we come home. This time he bolted out the door and I couldn't get him back inside. To his credit though he stayed off the bed and couches!
And this is what I recommend to any pet owner. Nature's Miracle will get rid of any stain! So fantastic! And this carpet powder keeps the house from smelling like a pet shop! Just a little FYI from me to you!

Cross Country take 2

I gave the Bonneville golf course a try this time and it was so great. I went sans dogs this time but next time they will definitely be bringing them for an off leash run. Couldn't be better.
The first few dips caused a few falls. However the second time lap I can proudly say NO falls! Fabulous. I would say there was marked improvement. Still working on not expending too much energy on my limbs flailing about. I'm getting there. This picture was from my first wardrobe change. I forgot how hot you get.
Just a lovely picture of all the inversion I was on top of.
And a refreshing picture of the mountains! The best part of this expedition was I tried out my new app RunKeeper. I forgot about it on the first lap. Turned it on on my second and it was awesome! I recommend this app to everyone.
I just have the free version and it was flawless. Here are some screen shots if you're interested.
You can set it to any activity you like including running in the treadmill.
Then it maps your course. Even in the middle of a golf course! And your calories and time! Then it logs it on your online account and show your improvement! Awesome!

X-Country Skiing!

I'm in love. I'm in love. And I don't care who knows it! I have been sitting at home for the last 2 days sick. I was about to rip my hair out. I cannot be in the same place for that long! Yikes! So I downloaded a map, layered on some clothes, packed up my skis and my sore throat, runny nose and I went cross country skiing!
I did the mitten/main loop this time! And it was awesome! Never having been cross country skiing before I studied up with the help of my friend YouTube, and studied technique and etiquette. I walked out there like I hadn't just spent the last ten minutes scraping of the price tag off my brand new skis. No one wants to be the newbie!
So I went to where everyone else was getting geared up, clicked into my bindings and I was off. A little faster the I had intended to take of and had to go collect one of my gloves that I hadn't had the chance to put on before my skis started making the decent without my consent! Smooth! So much for looking like an old pro! Ha!
After displaying my skills at the snow plow, I found myself in Narnia! Ha ha just kidding, but it was so beautiful! I only had to stop and fix my gear twice. I was a little too prepared with clothing! And only took one spill when someone was passing me and I got startled. Only slightly embarrassing.
I think I only freaked a few people out when I was following them mimicking their every movement to see how it was all done.
My favorite part was loading my car up with my skis. Just seeing all my fun gear in my car knowing all the adventures I'm going to have this winter! Now j just have to decide which bumper sticker to slap on my car. Like "I'd rather be cross country skiing", or "I brake for cross country skiers". A bumper stickers not a decision you can rush into. Ha ha! No but seriously it's amazing!
Then I got home and warmed up by the heater with this girl! Anytime the heater is on you can find Cleo wrapped around it. She looks like a lizard on it's heat rock.
Then to celebrate the birth of my new hobby, I whipped out a bowl of the BEST tomato soup EVER!
And discovered the best substitute for sour cream. Plain Greek yogurt! Blew my mind! Try it ASAP! You won't be disappointed.
Oh and then I hung out with one of my best friends a 32oz of Diet Coke! (Ok let's be real it's a 44oz, and I'm not scared!) We just love pictures together! To sum it all up by 5 o'clock I have had the worlds most perfect day!
